Marrakech is hotter than Agadir primarily due to its inland location away from the moderating influence of the Atlantic Ocean. Agadir, being a coastal city, benefits from cooler sea breezes and the cooling effect of the Canary Current, which keeps its temperatures more moderate. Marrakech, conversely, experiences a more continental climate with greater temperature extremes, especially during summer, as there is no large body of water nearby to regulate the heat.
